Is there a more intuitive way to use the table component for input purposes? For example, remove the click selection mode altogether, so a boolean toggle changes in one click or string columns are editable without double-clicking into the cell. From there I would use EditCellCommit & EditCellCancel (if it works how i think) component events to immediately write/update the table so it appears seamless while making changes to the table, even without hitting ENTER. Thanks!

Hi There, I’m looking to get icons to appear in my table. I’ve set a template screen for the icon and I’d like to change this icon based on row information in the table. I’ve tried to add a dictionary to the data param but I don’t think this was the intended way to achieve this. Any help would be appreciated.

The table component in Ignition makes displaying data retrieved from SQL queries a snap, however there are many times when you want to do more than just display the data to the user. In many cases you would like the user to be able to interact with the table directly, edit data within the cells and then have those edits be reflected in the database. Many first time Ignition users think that merely making a column "editable" in the table customizer will achieve this. They quickly find out that this is not the case and are often confused as to why. The table component does not have any built in functionality to write back to your database.

You don’t expressly pass parameters to the subview - they’re sent implicitly by the Table. If you have a Table with columns “city”, “country”, and “population”, then your subview should have the following parameters configured: The Table will pass along a rowIndex parameter, which is the row of the table this subView belongs to, and a value parameter which contains a case-sensitive matching key for each column of the Table.
