While stop at an intersection, the car in front of me proceeded to turn right and decided to stop after making the turn in a merging lane. Unaware that the driver had stopped , I moved to the stop sign and watched for oncoming traffic. Once I had a clear path , I proceeded to turn right, colliding (rear ended) with the previous car that decided to stop in the merging lane. I was charged with following to closely, but the fact is the other driver, literaly stop several meters ahead after making the right turn. My agency paid for the other vehicles repair, but now I'm face with a charge of following to close and risking points to my license. I went to initial appearance and claimed not guilty. I was set for trial next month. They offer a "nolo" with no points accessed, but I declined, and requested trial by judge (declined jury trial). What are my odds!
